The Dudhkunda - “The lake of milk” – is a holy mountain lake and it is said to be sacred. It is believed that taking a bath in its holy water will fulfill one’s wishes. During the full moon night in August, a one-week-long celebration is held by pilgrims and Jhakis (Shaman priests).
Thupten Choling Monastery: One of the biggest Monasteries in Nepal with more than 1’000 Monks and nuns of Tibetan origin and mainly Tibetan refugees, it is one of many Monasteries we are able to visit on the way.
The Dudh Kunda Monastery Trek is one of the most beautiful treks in Nepal, leading off the beaten paths through a part of the Himalayas. In the foothills of the Khumbu region, it offers a beautiful view of snow-capped mountains and also the chance to experience some of the unique Nepalese cultures.
