About Trip
The Helambu trek is very popular because of its climate and its location, about 72 kilometers northeast of Kathmandu. The region stretches from above the Shivapuri Wildlife Reserve Park up to the foothill of the Langtang Himal, in the center is the crest of Yangri Danda with the holy mountain of Ama Yangri (3'771 m)
Our Trek brings us through the area of Yolmopa, they are closely related to the Tamang from the Langtang Bhote Kosi and the region north of Dhunche and derive their origin from southern Tibet. The name Sherpa (East-man) means "people who originate east of the Bhote Kosi River". Because the name is reserved for the Khumbu Sherpa, they call themselves "Yolmo" or "Yolmopa".
The Helambu / Yolmo is one of the old stem regions of Tibetan Buddhism; numerous sites are attributed to the action of the Holy and magician Padmasambhava (Tib. Guru Rinpoche)
The mountain scenery is spectacular here. The valley is the home of the pine forests, slow-flowing rivers, fast mountain streams, rugged cliffs, snow-capped peaks, deep meadows strewn with daisies and wild primroses.
This Trek is comparatively an easy trek since we "only" hike 800 to 3‘600 meters above sea level and thereby in warmer temperatures.
It offers a wide range of cultures, spectacular landscapes, and the great advantage that it is quite like an Everest or Annapurna Trek.
